In an exciting match the Greystones Mariners beat the Blue Devils 6-3, with Gareth Kelly scoring a Grand slam homer! In the first inning the Devils were leading 1-0, and the story was the same in the second inning but in the 3rd with bases loaded ‘Muscles’ Kelly steps up to the plate. He smacks the ball; it goes firing over the boundary line! Four runs in and we?re flying. Another two runs, rounds up the inning. At this point the Devils decide to change their pitcher, a faster and more accurate one. He shuts us down, but D.J’s pitching and a great performance by the outfield keeps the Devils down to only two more runs.
A little incident happened on second in the fourth inning. Hugh Cahill steals second. The throw down comes in and Hugh charges in. He and the second baseman collide. The field ump decides to eject Hugh from the game, but even this isn’t enough to stop us going onto a win. D.J’s pickoff catches out a runner on second and Hayes tags him out and the game is over. Another win for the Mariners putting us with six wins and five loses.
