Greystones Mariner Baseball 2010 will start up again soon with the return of many familiar faces as well as a new addition to its roster.
This season will see the club re-commence its Cadet team (13 to 16 year olds). A new coach, Leo Farrell, is taking the reins and with several teams around the country to challenge, not to mention a Baseball Ireland planned trip to Poland for some 13-14 yr olds, this should be a fun year for our teenage players.
We will continue to run our very successful T-Ball (5-7yr olds), Coach Pitch (7-9yr olds) and Little League (10-12yr olds) groups, with our Little League team scheduled to participate in several Blitz's, and in the Northern division of a new league format. Greystones will host its own Blitz on Saturday the 19th of June and its annual club barbeque in September. So there is lots of baseball for all ages to come out and enjoy. Here's hoping for a fun, and dry, season.
We are planning an Open Day for all new players interested in giving the game a try, and for those returning players a chance to just get in that little bit more baseball. So come on down and check out what this unique sport is all about. You don't need any experience or any equipment, just yourself and a desire to try a new game.
This Open Day is on Saturday the 6th of March at Charlesland Sports Centre, in Greystones and will run from 12noon until 2pm on the pitch inside the running track.
The Open Day is for all new players in all age groups, and baseball is for both girls and boys to play together.
